Well, I finally got back to hacking away, little by little, at the jungle of pictures choking my laptop's hard drive. Rather than dive back into Gettysburgjust yet, I decided to finish off Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It was a lousy few days for pictures when I was there in November, but that never stops me. In case you haven't noticed the obvious, I'm a rank amateur when it comes to photography. Nowadays point 'n shoot cameras (which is all I use at present) do a pretty nice job if the conditions are right. Conditions weren't right in Harrisburg. And not just for pictures. It was a cold, windy, miserable day to be out running unprotected along the Susquehanna River.

I was there for the Harrisburg marathon& hadn't done any pre-trip research on where things were. Just threw the camera in the car & took off. The hotel was just down the street a bit from the Capitol & I figgered it was a pretty good bet that I'd find some memorials there. So after getting all registered & settled in, I hit the streets. All that walking wasn't the best thing to do the day before a 26 mile run, but I'm seldom accused of being sensible about these things. Nonetheless, I did fine the next day. That is to say I finished, which is all I care about. There'll be no Boston for me -- I'll need to maintain my current pace while aging about 40 years in order to qualify for that one.

Anyway, I hope you'll browse thru some of the links on the Harrisburg page. If nothing else, check out Love & Labor& its mate The Burden of Life. I thought those & the others around the Capitol grounds would be the end of it, but then about 10 miles into the race the next day, I was awakened from my running daze by one of the pieces along the river -- perhaps it was Lest We Forget-- can't recall for sure. So I drove back over there that afternoon & the next morning -- sore body & all.

Oh, before I go, one other happy little tidbit to share. After corresponding a bit with the folks at RoadsiteAmerica.com, they did a little rewrite on one of their pages & included one of my pictures from Billings, Montana. And that's "the rust"of the story. G'd-day!
