There have been some very significant additions to the site in the past few weeks ...
  • The
  • Pediments/Tympanumspage is huge. These monstrous carvings in the triangular space high above our heads have always held a fascination with me. Each tells a story. Now you can see nineteen of them from one location! I'm only missing four that I know of -- the Botany collection (Cereals, Flowers, Fruit, Forestry) at the Dept of Agriculture. I have pictures, so it shouldn't be long. Also I'll eventually record the stories behind all 23. Does anyone know of others in the D.C. area?

  • I did a quick circuit of
  • Smithsonian National Zoological Park (i.e. the "National Zoo")last Thursday. It has quite a collection of outdoor sculpture & I now have photographs of the vast majority.

  • I visited
  • George Washington Universityon a snowy day a few months ago & finally got back to the pictures. Check 'em out.

  • There are also some new navigational aids that perhaps no one but I will ever notice. It's always bugged me that in the subject, artist, location or metro indexes, if I clicked on a something that there was only one of (e.g. subject "Sonny Bono" has exactly one item), I'd have to go through another index page before seeing the pics. That's fixed so you go right to the pics if the person, topic or location is singular.
