Kate adds, "The Weeping Women photos were taken in May and June 2011, after the park reopened following a 7-year renovation. German American sculptor Ulric Ellerhusen created the original sculptures in 1915 to express the sadness and melancholy of life without art ; they were recreated by Spero Anargyros when the Palace was rebuilt in 1969."
