Many thanks to Christian M Seitz for these photos & the following explanation:

"The location of the fountain is also sometimes considered the Bloomingdale neighborhood. See Wikipedia “Bloomingdale DC”.

"After McMillan Park was converted to the McMillan Sand Filtration Site (now closed and marked historical) the fountain was moved without the large marble base to a neighborhood recreation center (that had been converted from an old telephone cable warehouse) and unofficial museum in Bloomingdale named for Crispus Attucks. After the recreation center closed and burned, the area was converted to its present form, a park named Crispus Attucks. This is at the interior of the block between N. Capital, 1st, U, & V Streets in Northwest DC. After the fire, the fountain was moved to the new McMillan Reservoir adjacent the Sand Filtration site. It is behind a fence and cared for by the Army Corps of Engineers. It is visible from the entry on 1st St., NW. The marble base has not been returned, however, it is understood that it is in storage in Maryland. There have been efforts to have it relocated to a more public space and will likely be a centerpiece of a planned development at the old McMillan Sand Filtration Site.

"The pictures are courtesy of the collections of the Smithsonian Institution.

Thanks Christian!
