Solomons, Maryland 1942 - 1945
Dedicated August 11, 2007 Sculptor Antonio Tobias Mendez

The U.S. Amphibious Training Base, located at the end of the Dowell peninsula, was the first of its kind in th U.S. Over 68,000 servicemen trained for amphibious landing here, and later saw action in both the European and the Pacific Theatres. The base closed in 1945, but the impact of its presence changed Solomons forever.

Engraved on the bricks surrounding this statue are names of men and women who served their country in World War II.
